Relocatees moving to Sweden are quickly made aware of this when looking for rental properties. There is no such thing as a free lunch, we all know this. The cost of renting is usually the cost of ownership in any market around the world. While the relationship disposable income and real estate prices don’t work in tandem and can be a nasty surprise to anyone that has to buy. We have one thing going for us and that is the low interest rates. Currently while property owners are mortgaged to the hilt thanks to the low interest rates our monthly costs aren’t as dreadful as one would think. There’s always a silver lining. While rental prices have gone up substantially in the last 18 months due to a law change allowing landlords to charge the true cost of ownership, the rates work in our favor. So yet another decrease in interest rates is excellent news for our clients and landlords alike!
